Blue Hour Ikebana Inspired Arrangement
There's a particular hush right before evening — and this piece lives in it.
Curving equisetum reaches skyward, loose and unhurried, while two burgundy scabiosa hold the eye at the heart of the arrangement, deep and velvet-dark. Their papery pods echo out to the side in soft parchment and green, and tucked low among glossy foliage, a single pale tulip and a scatter of small white star-blooms catch the light like the last of the day.
An ikebana-influenced composition built on line, restraint, and the quiet space between stems. The tall vertical reach is deliberately answered by the low, gathered base — asymmetry as intention, not accident. Cradled in a fluted celadon bowl whose soft blue cools the whole palette, it's meant to be turned and lived with, revealing a new silhouette from every angle.
Arranged entirely foam-free using a kenzan and traditional mechanics — better for the stems, better for the water, gentler on the earth. Hand-built to order in the studio, so no two are ever quite alike.
When botanicals become art.
